The Plaza is a traditional cinema located in the market town of Skipton, North Yorkshire, the “Gateway to the Dales”.

The building was originally a temperance hall until converted to a cinema in 1912 when it was opened as The Gem. It was acquired in the early 1920s by Mathew Hartley and Son and it stayed in the family for three generations until it was sold to the present owner, Mr Charles Morris, in May 1998.

The cinema has a balcony and seating for 250 customers. A Conn 651 organ has been recently installed and there are regular organ recitals which have included well known organists such as Miss Frieda Hall and Arnold Loxam.

The cinema also contains a video library with over 2000 titles on display including the latest blockbuster releases. Membership is free and we have probably the cheapest rental rates in the area.
